00:18:33 Lost in a world
00:18:37 Caught in the whirl
00:18:40 Confused by the rules,
00:18:43 Scorned by the attitudes...
00:18:46 I've come a long way
00:18:51 I am Cuauhtemoc...
00:18:55 civilized...
00:18:57 far beyond the dreams
00:19:00 I am the Maya Prince...
00:19:03 Great leader
00:19:09 I rode
00:19:14 Hidalgo! Zapata!
00:19:17 Are but a few... who dared
00:19:22 of the tyranny of men
00:19:24 who rule by farce
00:19:29 I stand here
00:19:33 and now I see
00:19:37 In a country that's
00:19:45 and stifled my pride.
00:19:49 I shed a tear
00:19:52 when I see my children
00:19:56 of mediocrity,
00:19:59 never to look back...
00:20:02 and remember me.
00:20:08 And now the trumpets sound,
00:20:10 The music in the people
00:20:14 Like a sleeping giant,
00:20:19 And we start to move.
00:20:22 Mexicanos! Espanoles! Chicanos!
00:20:28 I look the same
00:20:30 I feel the same
00:20:33 I cry and sing the same...
00:20:37 I am Joaquin...
00:20:42 I am Aztec prince...
00:20:45 I shall endure!"

00:29:40 One student might not
00:29:43 - but a whole bunch will.
00:29:45 How about we get every
00:29:48 an essay about what they
00:29:50 They're not going to write an essay.
00:29:53 This is East L.A. You know what I mean?
00:29:56 We can make it simple.
00:29:58 We can ask the questions ourselves...
00:30:01 and then kids can answer
00:30:04 - Like a survey.
00:30:05 Surveys are bullshit.
00:30:08 - Have you got a better idea?
00:30:11 get their attention. The Black Panthers
00:30:14 - We're not the Black Panthers, ese.

00:01:23 So I helped them put together
00:01:26 And it was good,
00:01:29 They ran a strong
00:01:31 and it came down
00:01:33 and they delivered
00:01:37 Which follows
00:01:40 - Consolidate your power base.
00:01:43 It was a scene.
00:01:45 One half was going crazy, the other half
00:01:49 and the principal comes out
00:01:52 He says, "You can't speak
00:01:54 Mr. Castro,
00:01:57 Did you know the original
00:02:00 was written

00:03:10 We know that. Why?
00:03:12 Principal canceled some play,
00:03:15 and just started yelling,
00:03:18 - We're gonna get blamed anyway.
00:03:34 The other schools
00:03:36 - Yeah, we're gonna get blamed anyway.
00:03:39 - no no. Hold on, wait a minute.

00:49:16 Chicano power!
00:49:19 Chicano power!
00:49:22 Chicano power!
00:49:24 Chicano power!
00:50:21 What the walkouts did...
00:50:23 it focused the attention
