00:00:50 Ladies and Gentlemen,
00:00:53 the President-elect
00:00:56 Barack H. Obama!
00:01:55 I've to say the applause on our rooftop
00:02:00 That is a crowd of millions,
00:02:04 and this is the realization
00:02:07 that M. Luther King spoke about
00:02:09 in the holy 1960's.
00:02:12 Notice also that
00:02:15 is Barack H. Obama,
00:02:18 When he takes the earth of office,
00:02:21 Barack Hussein Obama,
00:02:23 that middle-name has been very
00:02:27 but it sends
00:02:30 many people around the world,
00:02:33 That signal that precedes
00:02:35 today's speech
00:02:38 to consume this White House.
00:02:46 Ladies and Gentlemen,
00:02:47 the chairman of the Joy Congrationnal
00:02:52 the honorable Dianne Feinstein.
00:03:03 Mr. President and Vice-President,
00:03:06 Mr. President-elect,
00:03:07 and Vice-President-elect,
00:03:09 ladies and gentlemen.
00:03:11 Welcome to the inauguration
00:03:13 of the 44th President
00:03:22 The world is watching today,
00:03:24 as our great democracy engages
00:03:26 in this peaceful
00:03:30 Here, on the National Mall,
00:03:32 where we remember
00:03:35 and those who fought
00:03:38 we gather to etch another line
00:03:41 in the solid stone of history.
00:03:44 The freedom of a people
00:03:46 to choose its leaders
00:03:50 In a world where political strike
00:03:53 is too often selled with violence,
00:03:56 we come here every four years
00:03:59 to bestow the power
00:04:02 Upon our democratically
00:04:06 Those who doubt
00:04:07 the supremacy of the ballot
00:04:11 can never diminish the power
00:04:15 for justice and equality
00:04:18 like the one
00:04:21 No triumph, tainted by brutality,
00:04:25 could ever match
00:04:29 and what it means
00:04:31 and died to make it a reality.
00:04:35 Our work is not yet finished,
00:04:37 but future generations
00:04:40 as the turning-point for real
00:04:43 and necessary changes in our nation.
00:04:46 The will look back,
00:04:49 and remember
00:04:52 when the dream
00:04:56 from the steps
00:04:58 finally reaches the walls
00:05:07 In that spirit,
00:05:09 we today not only inaugurate
00:05:13 we pledge ourselves to the hope,
00:05:16 the vision, the unity,
00:05:18 and a renewed call to greatness,
00:05:21 inspired by the 44th President
00:05:25 Barack Obama.
00:05:27 Thank you. And God bless America.
00:05:32 At this time,
00:05:33 I call upon Dr. Rick Warren,
00:05:36 Pastor of the Celibate Church
00:05:40 to provide the invocation.
00:05:52 Let us pray...
00:05:55 Almighty God,
00:05:58 our Father,
00:06:00 Everything we see,
00:06:04 exists because of you alone.
00:06:06 It all comes from you.
00:06:09 It all belongs to you.
00:06:11 It all exists for your glory.
00:06:13 History is your story.
00:06:17 The Scripture tells us:
00:06:20 the Lord is our God,
00:06:23 the Lord is one."
00:06:26 And you are the compassionate
00:06:29 and merciful one.
00:06:31 And you are loving
00:06:36 Now today,
00:06:37 we rejoice not only
00:06:39 in America's peaceful transfer of power
00:06:44 we celebrate
00:06:48 with the inauguration of our first
00:06:51 African-American President
00:07:00 We are so grateful
00:07:03 to live in this land,
00:07:06 a land of unequaled possibility,
00:07:09 where the son
00:07:11 can rise to the highest level
00:07:16 And we know today that Dr. King,
00:07:20 and a great cloud of witnesses,
00:07:27 Give to our new President,
00:07:30 the wisdom
00:07:34 the courage
00:07:39 the compassion
00:07:44 Bless and protect him,
00:07:47 his family,
00:07:49 Vice-President Biden, the cabinet,
00:07:52 and every one
00:07:58 Help us, oh God,
00:08:02 united not by race,
00:08:04 or religion, or blood,
00:08:07 but to our commitment to freedom,
00:08:10 and justice for all.
00:08:13 When we focus on ourselves,
00:08:16 when we fight each other,
00:08:19 forgive us.
00:08:22 When we presume that our greatness
00:08:26 forgive us.
00:08:29 When we fail to treat
00:08:32 and all the earth with the respect
00:08:34 that they deserve,
00:08:36 forgive us.
00:08:39 And as we face
00:08:42 may we have
00:08:46 responsibility in our actions,
00:08:49 humility in our approaches,
00:08:53 and civility in our attitudes
00:08:55 even when we differ.
00:08:58 Help us to share, to serve,
00:09:01 and to seek the common good of all.
00:09:06 May all people of good will today
00:09:10 to work for a more just,
00:09:12 a more healthy, and a more prosperous
00:09:18 And may we never
00:09:20 all nations and all people
00:09:27 We now commit our new president,
00:09:32 and his wife Michelle,
00:09:35 and his daughters, Malia and Sasha,
00:09:39 into your loving care.
00:09:43 I humbly ask this in the name of the one
00:09:47 Yeshua,
00:09:48 Isa,
00:09:49 Jesús,
00:09:50 Jesus,
00:09:52 who taught us to pray:
00:09:55 Our father,
00:09:56 who art in heaven,
00:09:59 hallowed be thy name.
00:10:02 Thy kingdom come,
00:10:04 thy will be done,
00:10:06 on earth as it is in heaven.
00:10:09 Give us this day our daily bread,
00:10:13 and forgive us our trespasses,
00:10:16 who trespass against us.
00:10:20 And lead us not into temptation,
00:10:23 but deliver us from evil,
00:10:25 for thine is the kingdom,
00:10:27 and the power,
00:10:29 and the glory,
00:10:30 forever.
00:10:32 Amen.
00:10:37 Pastor Rick Warren of California;
00:10:42 seems to be
00:10:47 overtstate rather the importance
00:10:50 ???? of the Nation
00:10:53 in this inaugural pray,
00:10:56 very to gay marriage,
00:11:00 and therefore very controversial,
00:11:04 that helped to get
00:11:07 The first test
00:11:10 Here we have Aretha Franklin now
00:11:20 My country,'tis of thee,
00:11:25 Sweet land...
00:11:28 ... of liberty,
00:11:33 Of thee...
00:11:35 ... I sing;
00:11:39 Land where...
00:11:42 ... my fathers died,
00:11:46 Land of the...
00:11:49 ... pilgrims' pride,
00:11:52 From every
00:11:54 every mountainside
00:11:58 Let free...
00:12:02 freedom... freedom ring!
00:12:10 Our father's God to Thee,
00:12:16 Author...

00:12:23 To Thee we sing.
00:12:29 Long may our...
00:12:33 ... land be bright,
00:12:36 With freedom's...
00:12:39 ... holy light,

00:12:59 Let it ring! Let it ring!
00:13:07 Let it ring! Let it ring!
00:13:16 - Let it ring! Let it ring!
00:13:36 Let it ring...
00:13:40 Let it ring...
00:14:01 The queen of soul Aretha Franklin
00:14:06 The lighting ????
00:14:08 moving the ceremony along
00:14:11 the inauguration
00:14:17 Also ???? on that;
00:14:22 an African-American woman singing
00:14:24 on the autel of democracy
00:14:27 on a building, the Capitol, that
00:14:31 African-Americans
00:14:32 have had so many roads
00:14:35 but never the road of President.
00:14:50 I, Joseph Robinette Biden Junior,
00:14:54 I, Joseph Robinette Biden Junior,
00:14:58 that I will support and defend
00:15:02 that I will support and defend
00:15:06 against all enemies,
00:15:08 against all enemies,
00:15:11 that I will be a true faith
00:15:14 that I will be a true faith
00:15:18 that I take
00:15:20 that I take
00:15:23 without any mental reservation,
00:15:26 without any mental reservation,
00:15:29 and that I will
00:15:33 and that I will
00:15:36 the duties of the office in which
00:15:39 the duties of the office in which
00:15:41 - So help me God.
00:15:44 Thank you, Mr. Justice!
00:15:48 The oath of Minister
00:15:51 John Paul Stevens who's 88.
00:15:53 A long and serving member
00:15:55 Joe Biden is now Vice-President
00:16:03 And of course that have been
00:16:07 the Vice-President...
00:16:09 and his oath, then became
00:16:13 in a time ???? because
00:16:17 We hope that never has to come
00:16:19 and pass, but it has passed
00:16:22 in the history of this nation.
00:16:24 And that is because of that
00:16:27 an unprecedent event of security,
00:16:30 even in the very beginning of
00:16:33 secret-service agents
00:16:37 whether the other candidates had not.
00:16:40 It gives you some idea of the
00:16:42 worries that surround the office,
00:16:48 Anthony McGill, clarinet.
00:16:51 Yo-Yo Ma, cellist.
00:16:53 And Gabriela Montero, pianist.
00:16:56 Performing "Air and Simple Gifts",
00:16:59 composition arranged for this occasion
00:17:05 So the special compostion
00:17:07 with four of the most-gifted musicians
00:17:11 part of a program that has been approved
00:17:15 and we'll enjoy the music in a second,
00:17:20 Barack Obama himself,
00:17:23 and he's minutes away of this
00:17:27 He's indeed...
00:17:30 transfer, he will be running ????
00:17:33 Then, he will have lunch
00:17:35 on Capitol Hill with members of Congress
00:17:39 the parade.
00:17:40 In-between all that,
00:17:44 A little bit of history;
00:17:47 ever given by a new president;
00:17:49 President Harrison's
00:17:52 and he was wearing no hat.
00:17:54 all the inaugural ????
00:17:57 he could ????
00:18:00 And it's not going
00:18:02 But what will happen is that
00:18:04 the world and America will listen
00:18:07 this man has to say.
00:18:10 turn his words into the kind of music
00:18:15 Cellist Yo-Yo Ma,
00:18:17 Itzhak Perlman,
00:18:22 performing this piece
00:21:42 A piece specially commissionned
00:21:45 and composed by John Williams.
00:21:48 As we approach the moment when
00:21:51 The President Inauguration
00:21:55 It just turned noon here
00:21:59 The Inauguration... The chief Justice
00:22:03 ???? just a minut before noon.
00:22:15 But now everyone is standing
00:22:20 Swearing of the 44th President
00:22:24 Barack Hussein Obama.
00:22:28 This is a moment that even he and his
00:22:33 Are you prepared
00:22:35 - I am.
00:22:39 - I, Barack...
00:22:41 I, Barack Hussein Obama,
00:22:44 that I will execute the office
00:22:49 That I will execute...
00:22:51 The off... Faithfully the pres...
00:22:56 and I will to the best of my ability
00:22:58 And will, to best of my ability
00:23:00 preserve, protect, and defend
00:23:04 Preserve, protect, and defend
00:23:07 - So help you God?
00:23:08 Congratuations, Mr. President.
00:23:12 All best wishes.
00:24:25 It is my greatest honor
00:24:28 to present the 44th president
00:24:32 Barack Obama.
00:24:56 Thank you.
00:25:04 My fellow citizens:
00:25:09 I stand here today
00:25:14 humbled by the task before us
00:25:18 grateful for
00:25:22 mindful of the sacrifices borne
00:25:28 I thank President Bush
00:25:36 as well as the generosity
00:25:40 throughout this transition.
00:25:44 Forty-four Americans have now
00:25:50 The words have been spoken
00:25:54 and the still waters of peace.
00:25:57 Yet, every so often,
00:26:00 the oath is taken amidst
00:26:04 and raging storms.
00:26:07 At these moments America has
00:26:10 because of the skill
00:26:14 but because, We, The People,
00:26:18 have remained faithful
00:26:21 and true to our founding documents.
00:26:25 So it has been.
00:26:28 So it must be with this
00:26:33 That we are in the midst
00:26:37 Our nation is at war
00:26:39 against a far-reaching
00:26:44 Our economy is badly weakened,
00:26:46 a consequence of greed and
00:26:50 but also our collective
00:26:54 and prepare the nation for a new age.
00:26:57 Homes have been lost;
00:26:59 jobs shed; businesses shuttered.
00:27:01 Our health care is too costly;
00:27:05 and each day brings
00:27:08 the ways we use energy strengthen
00:27:14 These are the indicators of crisis,
00:27:16 subject to data and statistics.
00:27:20 Less measurable, but no less profound,
00:27:23 is a sapping of
00:27:28 A nagging fear that
00:27:30 America's decline is inevitable,
00:27:33 and that the next generation
00:27:38 Today I say to you
00:27:42 They are serious and they are many.
00:27:44 They will not be met easily
00:27:48 But know this,
00:27:58 On this day,
00:28:00 we gather because
00:28:04 unity of purpose over
00:28:09 On this day,
00:28:10 we come to proclaim
00:28:13 and false promises,
00:28:16 and worn out dogmas
00:28:18 that for far too long
00:28:22 We remain a young nation,
00:28:25 but in the words of Scripture,
00:28:27 the time has come to
00:28:32 The time has come to
00:28:36 to choose our better history,
00:28:40 that noble idea passed on from
00:28:44 the God-given promise
00:28:47 all are free,
00:28:50 to pursue their full
00:29:02 In reaffirming
00:29:05 we understand
00:29:09 It must be earned.
00:29:11 Our journey has never been
00:29:15 It has not been
00:29:18 for those who prefer
00:29:21 or seek only the pleasures
00:29:25 Rather, it has been the risk-takers,
00:29:27 the doers, the makers of things;
00:29:30 some celebrated, but more often
00:29:35 who have carried us up the long, rugged
00:29:41 For us,
00:29:43 they packed up
00:29:45 and traveled across oceans
00:29:49 For us,
00:29:50 they toiled in sweatshops
00:29:53 endured the lash of
00:29:58 For us, they fought and died
00:30:01 in places like Concord and Gettysburg,
00:30:07 Time and again, these
00:30:10 and sacrificed and worked
00:30:13 so that we might live a better life.
00:30:16 They saw America as bigger
00:30:18 than the sum of
00:30:20 greater than all the differences
00:30:26 This is the journey
00:30:29 We remain the most prosperous,
00:30:33 Our workers are no less productive
00:30:37 Our minds are no less inventive,
00:30:39 our goods and services
00:30:41 than they were last week
00:30:45 Our capacity remains undiminished.
00:30:50 But our time of standing pat,
00:30:52 of protecting narrow interests
00:30:56 that time has surely passed.
00:30:59 Starting today,
00:31:00 we must pick ourselves up,
00:31:04 and begin again
00:31:16 For everywhere we look,
00:31:17 there is work to be done.
00:31:19 The state of
00:31:21 bold and swift, and we will act,
00:31:24 not only to create new jobs,
00:31:26 but to lay a new
00:31:28 We will build the roads and bridges,
00:31:31 the electric grids
00:31:34 and bind us together.
00:31:36 We will restore science
00:31:39 and wield technology's wonders
00:31:42 and lower its cost.
00:31:44 We will harness the sun,
00:31:47 to fuel our cars
00:31:50 And we will transform our
00:31:54 to meet the demands of a new age.
00:31:57 All this we can do.
00:31:59 And all this we will do.
00:32:02 Now, there are some who question
00:32:07 who suggest that our system
00:32:13 Their memories are short.
00:32:15 For they have forgotten
00:32:19 what free men
00:32:21 imagination is joined
00:32:24 and necessity to courage.
00:32:27 What the cynics fail to understand is
00:32:32 that the stale political arguments
00:32:34 that have consumed us
00:32:39 The question we ask today is not whether
00:32:43 but whether it works,
00:32:45 whether it helps families
00:32:48 care they can afford a retirement
00:32:52 Where the answer is yes:
00:32:55 Where the answer is no:
00:32:57 programs will end.
00:32:59 And those of us who manage
00:33:01 the public's dollars
00:33:03 to spend wisely,
00:33:05 reform bad habits,
00:33:06 and do our business
00:33:08 because only then can we restore
00:33:11 the vital trust between
00:33:17 Nor is the question before us whether
00:33:23 Its power to generate wealth
00:33:27 but this crisis has reminded
00:33:31 the market can spin out of control,
00:33:33 and that a nation
00:33:36 when it favors only the prosperous.
00:33:39 The success of
00:33:42 not just on the size
00:33:45 but on the reach of our prosperity,
00:33:47 on our ability to extend
00:33:52 Not out of charity,
00:33:54 but because it is the surest
00:34:03 As for our common defense,
00:34:07 we reject as false the choice
00:34:12 Our Founding Fathers...
00:34:17 faced with perils
00:34:21 drafted a charter to assure
00:34:25 A charter expanded
00:34:29 Those ideals still light the world,
00:34:32 and we will not give them
00:34:37 And so...
00:34:39 to all other peoples and governments
00:34:42 from the grandest capitals
00:34:45 where my father was born,
00:34:47 know that America is a friend of each
00:34:51 who seeks a future
00:34:54 and that we are ready
00:35:12 Recall that earlier generations
00:35:17 not just with missiles and tanks,
00:35:19 but with sturdy alliances
00:35:23 They understood that
00:35:26 nor does it entitle
00:35:30 Instead, they knew that
00:35:33 our security emanates
00:35:36 the force of our example,
00:35:38 the tempering qualities
00:35:44 We are the keepers of this legacy.
00:35:48 Guided by these
00:35:50 we can meet those new threats
00:35:52 that demand even greater effort,
00:35:54 even greater cooperation
00:35:58 We will begin to responsibly
00:36:01 and forge a hard-earned
00:36:05 With old friends and former foes,
00:36:07 we will work tirelessly
00:36:10 and roll back the specter
00:36:14 We will not apologize
00:36:16 nor will we waver in its defense,
00:36:19 and for those who seek
00:36:21 by inducing terror
00:36:24 we say to you now
00:36:26 and cannot be broken; you cannot
00:36:44 For we know,
00:36:47 that our patchwork
00:36:50 not a weakness.
00:36:52 We are a nation of
00:36:55 Jews and Hindus,
00:36:57 and non-believers.
00:36:59 We are shaped by every
00:37:01 drawn from every end of this Earth,
00:37:03 and because we have tasted the bitter
00:37:08 and emerged from that dark
00:37:12 we cannot help but believe
00:37:16 that the lines of
00:37:19 that as the world grows smaller,
00:37:21 our common humanity
00:37:23 and that America must play its role
00:37:25 in ushering in a new era of peace.
00:37:29 To the Muslim world,
00:37:31 we seek a new way forward,
00:37:33 based on mutual interest
00:37:37 To those leaders around
00:37:41 or blame their society's
00:37:43 know that your people will
00:37:47 not what you destroy.
00:37:50 To those...
00:37:54 To those who cling to power
00:37:57 and the silencing of dissent,
00:38:00 know that you are
00:38:02 but that we will extend a hand
00:38:05 if you are willing
00:38:11 To the people of poor nations,
00:38:13 we pledge to work alongside you
00:38:15 to make your farms flourish
00:38:18 to nourish starved bodies
00:38:22 And to those nations like
00:38:26 we say we can
00:38:29 to suffering outside our borders,
00:38:31 nor can we consume the world's
00:38:36 For the world has changed,
00:38:38 and we must change with it.
00:38:44 As we consider
00:38:47 we remember with humble gratitude
00:38:51 those brave Americans who,
00:38:54 patrol far-off deserts
00:38:59 They have something to tell us,
00:39:01 this is the fallen heroes who lie
00:39:07 We honor them not only because
00:39:11 but because they embody
00:39:15 a willingness to find meaning
00:39:21 And yet, at this moment,
00:39:23 a moment that will
00:39:26 it is precisely this spirit
00:39:32 For as much as government
00:39:36 it is ultimately the faith
00:39:40 upon which this nation relies.
00:39:43 It is the kindness to take
00:39:46 the selflessness of workers
00:39:50 than see a friend lose their job
00:39:54 It is the firefighter's courage
00:39:56 to storm a stairway
00:39:58 but also a parent's
00:40:02 that finally decides our fate.
00:40:07 Our challenges may be new.
00:40:10 The instruments with
00:40:15 But those values upon
00:40:19 honesty and hard work,
00:40:21 courage and fair play,
00:40:23 tolerance and curiosity,
00:40:25 loyalty and patriotism;
00:40:29 these things are old,
00:40:32 these things are true.
00:40:37 They have been the quiet force
00:40:42 What is demanded then
00:40:47 What is required of us now
00:40:52 a recognition
00:40:54 that we have duties to ourselves,
00:40:58 Duties that we do not grudgingly
00:41:02 firm in the knowledge that there
00:41:06 so defining of our character
00:41:09 than giving our all
00:41:12 This is the price
00:41:17 This is the source of our confidence,
00:41:20 the knowledge that God calls
00:41:24 This is the meaning
00:41:28 why men and women and children
00:41:31 can join in celebration
00:41:36 and why a man whose father
00:41:39 might not have been
00:41:43 can now stand before you,
00:41:45 to take a most sacred oath.
00:41:58 So let us mark this
00:42:02 of who we are,
00:42:08 In the year of America's birth,
00:42:10 in the coldest of months,
00:42:12 a small band of patriots huddled by
00:42:14 dying campfires
00:42:18 The capital was abandoned.
00:42:20 The enemy was advancing.
00:42:22 The snow was stained with blood.
00:42:26 At a moment when the outcome
00:42:30 the father of our nation ordered
00:42:36 "Let it be told
00:42:38 that in the depth of winter,
00:42:40 when nothing but hope
00:42:43 that the city and the country,
00:42:45 Alarmed at one common danger
00:42:47 came forth to meet it."
00:42:50 America.
00:42:52 In the face of our common dangers,
00:42:55 in this winter of our hardship,
00:42:58 let us remember these timeless words.
00:43:01 With hope and virtue,
00:43:03 let us brave once
00:43:05 and endure what storms may come.
00:43:08 Let it be said by
00:43:11 that when we were tested,
00:43:15 That we did not turn
00:43:17 And with eyes fixed on the horizon,
00:43:20 and God's grace upon us,
00:43:22 we carried forth
00:43:25 and delivered it safely
00:43:28 Thank you. God bless you.
00:43:30 And God bless
00:43:41 The enhanced crowd
00:43:43 the 44th President,
00:43:45 Barack Obama,
00:43:47 at the inaugural address
00:43:50 of the Capitol.
00:43:52 Of course,
00:43:53 it was full of the souring arches
00:43:56 but I think most crushly
00:43:59 an enormous business-like tone.
00:44:01 This is a man who takes office,
00:44:04 who'd be sitting in the Oval Office
00:44:07 with an enormous entry of problems,
00:44:10 and I think what he wants to do,
00:44:13 is to get away from this impression
00:44:17 very very good with words,
00:44:19 he also has to be very very good
00:44:23 and what he basically told us here
00:44:26 and turn it into an opportunity,
00:44:30 that 60 years ago,
00:44:31 someone like him wouldn't
00:44:34 in many states of this country,
00:44:37 he got the biggest front of applause,
00:44:42 The ceremony is not over;
00:44:44 after he's greeted
00:44:47 all the members there,
00:44:49 there would be
00:44:52 after which the ceremony
00:44:56 ...of introducing an American poet,
00:44:59 Elizabeth Alexander.
00:45:28 Praise song for the day.
00:45:33 Each day we go about our business,
00:45:38 walking past each other,
00:45:41 catching each others' eyes or not,
00:45:45 about to speak or speaking
00:45:49 All about us is noise.
00:45:53 All about us is noise and bramble,
00:45:58 thorn and din,
00:46:00 each one of our ancestors
00:46:07 Someone is stitching up a hem,
00:46:10 darning a hole in a uniform,
00:46:13 patching a tire,
00:46:15 repairing the things
00:46:20 Someone is trying
00:46:24 with a pair of wooden
00:46:28 with cello, boom box,
00:46:34 A woman and her son
00:46:38 A farmer considers the changing sky;
00:46:43 A teacher says:
00:46:47 Begin."
00:46:50 We encounter each other in words,
00:46:54 words spiny or smooth,
00:46:57 whispered or declaimed;
00:46:59 words to consider,
00:47:02 reconsider.
00:47:04 We cross dirt roads
00:47:08 the will of someone
00:47:12 "I need to see
00:47:16 I know there's something
00:47:20 We need to find a place
00:47:24 We walk into that
00:47:30 Say it plain,
00:47:32 that many have died for this day.
00:47:36 Sing the names of the dead
00:47:41 who laid the train tracks,
00:47:47 picked the cotton and the lettuce,
00:47:50 built brick by brick
00:47:55 they would then keep clean
00:48:00 Praise song for struggle;
00:48:03 praise song for the day.
00:48:06 Praise song
00:48:11 The figuring it out
00:48:15 Some live
00:48:20 Others by first do no harm,
00:48:23 or take no more than you need.
00:48:27 What if the mightiest word is love,
00:48:34 love beyond marital,
00:48:40 Love that casts
00:48:45 Love with no need
00:48:50 In today's sharp sparkle,
00:48:56 anything can be made,
00:48:59 any sentence begun.
00:49:02 On the brink, on the brim,
00:49:08 praise song for walking
00:49:29 And now it's my privilege to introduce
00:49:34 to deliver "The Benediction."
00:49:57 God of our weary years,
00:50:03 God of our silent tears,
00:50:07 thou who has brought us
00:50:12 thou who has by thy might led us
00:50:16 keep us forever
00:50:21 lest our feet
00:50:23 stray from the places, our God,
00:50:27 lest our hearts,
00:50:31 we forget thee.
00:50:33 Shadowed beneath thy hand
00:50:36 may we forever stand
00:50:39 true to thee, O God,
00:50:45 We truly give thanks
00:50:49 we've shared this day.
00:50:52 We pray now, O Lord,
00:50:56 Barack Obama, the 44th president
00:51:00 of these United States,
00:51:02 his family and his administration.
00:51:06 He has come to this high office
00:51:08 at a low moment
00:51:10 in the national and,
00:51:15 But because we know you got
00:51:20 we pray for not only our nation,
00:51:23 but for the community of nations.
00:51:25 Our faith does not shrink,
00:51:28 though pressed
00:51:31 For we know that, Lord, you're able
00:51:35 and you're willing to work through
00:51:40 to restore stability,
00:51:43 mend our brokenness, heal our wounds
00:51:47 and deliver us
00:51:53 or the least of these
00:51:55 and from favoritism
00:52:00 We thank you
00:52:03 our 44th president,
00:52:08 yes, we can work together
00:52:11 to achieve a more perfect union.
00:52:14 And while we have sown the seeds
00:52:17 of greed the wind
00:52:21 and even as we reap the whirlwind
00:52:27 we seek forgiveness
00:52:29 and we come in a spirit
00:52:33 to commit our support
00:52:37 by our willingness
00:52:40 to respect your creation,
00:52:43 to turn to each other
00:52:47 And now, Lord, in the complex arena
00:52:52 help us to make choices
00:52:58 on the side of inclusion,
00:53:02 tolerance, not intolerance.
00:53:05 And as we leave this mountaintop,
00:53:09 help us to hold
00:53:13 and the oneness of our family.
00:53:17 Let us take that power back
00:53:20 our workplaces, our churches,
00:53:25 or wherever we seek your will.
00:53:28 Bless President Barack,
00:53:31 Look over our little angelic
00:53:36 We go now
00:53:39 pledging that we won't get weary
00:53:44 We know you will not leave us alone,
00:53:47 with your hands of power
00:53:51 Help us then, now, Lord,
00:53:54 when nation shall not lift up
00:53:58 when tanks will be
00:54:02 when every man and every woman
00:54:05 shall sit under his or her own vine
00:54:09 and none shall be afraid;
00:54:11 when justice will
00:54:14 and righteousness
00:54:18 Lord, in the memory of all the saints
00:54:23 and in the joy of a new beginning,
00:54:28 we ask you to help us
00:54:31 when black will not be asked
00:54:34 when brown can stick around
00:54:38 when yellow will be mellow
00:54:41 when the red man can get ahead, man
00:54:44 and when white
00:54:48 Let all those who do justice
00:54:52 Amen!
00:54:54 - Say amen!
00:54:56 - ... and Amen!
00:55:06 An inspiring Benediction there
00:55:09 one of the greatest figures
00:55:12 As we appraoch the end
00:55:15 there will be the national anthem
00:55:18 President Obama and the First Lady
00:55:21 will depart the stage.
00:55:23 Ladies and gentlemen, please rise
00:55:28 by the United States
00:55:32 Following the anthem,
00:55:35 while the presidential party
00:55:38 Thank you very much.
00:55:46 Oh, say, can you see,
00:55:52 What so proudly we hailed
00:55:56 at the twilight's last gleaming?
00:56:00 Whose broad stripes
00:56:04 thro' the perilous fight'
00:56:08 O'er the ramparts we watched,
00:56:12 were so gallantly streaming
00:56:17 And the rockets red glare,
00:56:21 the bombs bursting in air,
00:56:25 Gave proof through the night
00:56:30 that our flag was still there.
00:56:35 Oh, say, does that star-spangled
00:56:40 banner yet wave...
00:56:46 O'er the land of the free
00:56:52 and the home...
00:56:55 of the brave?
